10 ACTIVITY Recipes for the “Handshape Spinner”

**YOU CAN MODIFY THE “HANDSHAPE SPINNER” INSTRUCTIONAL & GAME ACTIVITIES BEST SUIT FOR YOUR LEARNING & TEACHING NEEDS**
1. “Sign that handshape !”- Spin it to get a handshape and create or recall any sign vocabulary or classifier sign based on lessons or level of skills.
2. “All of you sign that handshape !”- Teacher/host spin it to get a handshape and ask the whole class to come up with different sign vocabulary or classifier or phrase for that handshape until the last player. (Ex: Sign for the HS: C, player #1: DRINK, player #2: SEARCH, player #3 CL:CC- Big pipe, player #4: CHRISTMAS, etc..)
3. EASY/ ASL 1 Beginner- Spin it one time to get a handshape and create a sign phrase.
4. MILD/ASL 2- Spin it two times and get two handshapes to create a sign phrase. *Suggestion: Set time limit*
5. DIFFCULT/ASL 3- Spin it three times and get three handshapes to create a sign phrase.
6. “Fastest dual signer Game” (2 players)- Have two signers stand in front of the stage/class and the host will spin it and get a handshape and the two signers will have a limited time to come up with a sign or phrase for the handshape. The fastest & accurate one may score or win the game.
7. “Fingerspell the word”- Spin it to get a handshape and ask the class/audience to fingerspell a word for that handshape. (Great for fingerspelling practice)
8. “Sign the surrounding objects”- Spin it, get a handshape and identify the objects and sign surrounding you.
9. “Class ASL story builder”- Group activity (5 players & more) - The whole players in a circle to create a story together. Each player will take a spin to get a handshape then create a short story, and the next player does the same thing but the story must be in relevant sequences.
10. “Read my mind and sign it”- The player spin it to get a handshape, show the handshape to the class or audience, then the player have up 10 seconds to come up with a sign vocabulary or classifer in his/her mind (do not reveal), ask the class/audience to guess what is the sign for that handshape in his/her mind , he/she must not reveal the sign until one of the audience get it correct or time limit passed.
